Mexico Continued

Try to imagine sipping a piña colada and eating a delicious gazpacho while listening to the surf breaking on the beach with a warm tropical breeze gently wafting through and you’ll almost have the same experience that we did at our favorite lunch spot. (Las Brisas)

El agua y mi novia…….. Es perfecto.

Eat your heart out Jimmy Buffett

This is the Recepción at the Fairmont Mayakoba. They do a wonderful job of setting beautiful buildings in beautiful places.

Have to end the set with a nice sunset…Have a great day!

Mexico Longpost

For those of you who have stumbled across this blog, my girlfriend and I went to Mexico. These are some of the pictures that came from the aforementioned trip. First off, everyone loves a picture of a sweet bathroom in a sweet resort in a sweet country. I know you love this.

I would have to say that I could get used to the view from the back patio pretty quickly. The lagoon our casita was located on was full of birds, fish and turtles and the like and made for a quite peaceful place to hang out and just watch.

It stormed a bit the first day in Mexico, but we’d just come from a crazy blizzard in Chicago, so 80 degree rain was pretty nice. And on top of that, even the storms are beautiful in Mexico!

The number of pictures taken of flowers is directly proportionate to the number of flowers present. Therefore ya’ll should ready yourselves for some flower pictures.

The pool by the Lagoon was a favorite spot to work on evenly roasting our pale northern skin for obvious reasons.

Another picture of one of the beautiful oases around the resort.

Thatch roof and blue sky go together like……ummm….well at least as well as anything else that goes together well.

I’ll try to sneak this flower in to the lineup…..It was pretty….give me a break.

I suppose with all of the living things in and around the water, one should expect to see an apex predator. Nevertheless, it’s still surprising to actually see them hanging around.

After the Storm

The Great Storm of 2011 or Snowmageddon as it is being called left Chicago a little paralyzed. The snow finally stopped falling and the clean up began but only after the storm topped the worst storms of Chicago list at number 3. So here are a couple of shots from this morning.

Our very snow-looking Peace Garden Park.

The Chicago PD blocked off Lakeshore Drive to allow the Roads Department time to clear the abandoned cars from last night off the road. I doubt that they’ll receive a lot of flak for that as there aren’t really any other cars on the roads.

Another shot of Chicago’s finest keeping order in the streets.

A cardinal in a tree trying to avoid the wind watched me like I was crazy as I trudged through the snow.

The green shack that stands guard at the beginning of the Lakefront Trail was a welcome sight in a sea of white.

A view down the golf course before heading over to the lake. Oddly quiet for being a pretty heavily trafficked area despite inclement weather.

The lake was pretty calm, but had cracked pretty badly from the weather last night. Some guy died last night while messing around out there, so I chose a safer route to take me home.

Catching Up Again

Super cold nights tend to be when I decide to venture out and take pictures…this night is absolutely no exception. I could hardly hold on to my camera and I kid you not, my tripod froze to my hand.

Chicago gets festive for holidays.

Alex and I on another FREEZING night. The event we’re at is called Zoo Lights down at Lincoln Park Zoo. I advise stocking up on hand-warmers and hot chocolate to make the experience the most enjoyable.

The quiet calm before a storm. Their summer homes vacated, all the birds have shown their better sense and gotten out of Dodge. Not a bad idea really.

During the “Great Storm of 2011″. It looks pretty calm because the crazy snow drifts are blocking the wind and blowing snow, but again, it is freezing and I am taking pictures.
