Two Days in a Row? Not Bad

No need for commentary…..just enjoy the angles

The Spaces Between

I’ve recently decided that I rather like the negative spaces between buildings in Chicago. There is something kind of spooky but comforting, cozy but cold, awe-inspiring and wholly depressing about them. The pictures I have been taking are on my phone, so they’re not the greatest quality, but you try carrying a camera around Chicago while randomly taking pictures of alleys and try not to look like a weirdo.

I usually post these on my Google+ page to try to get people to actually utilize the platform, but perhaps I’ll start throwing them up here too.

Crazy Storm

Chicago had a little bit of a storm last night and I decided it was worth trying to document….unfortunately capturing lightning with a less than rapid, rapid-fire mode is difficult. Lightning did strike twice though and I was lucky enough to catch it mid flash….so here the pictures are for your enjoyment.

Pride

Pride weekend celebrates the LGBT community in Chicago with an annually anticipated festival including a streetfest and a massively attended parade. While my pictures are mostly of some of the more colorful characters that were in the parade, they hardly capture the scope of this event. It ends up being a wonderful time to come together with friends, celebrate acceptance, really marvel at how far we’ve come as a people and just how far we still have to go.

Sophie

It’s always fun to have a little house guest around. As the summer concert season really kicks in to high gear and friends are traveling far and wide to catch their favorites shows, the care-taking of their dogs heads into the friend lotto. Sophie was the winning ticket this time. She’s been a blast and really made herself at home.

Long Time No Post

I wish that these were happy sunny posts to symbolize all the wonderful and beautiful weather we’re having, but truth is, its been a little less than nice this last month. Rain punctuated with fleeting hours of sun. Ehh….there’s always next month. Happy Memorial Day!

A Foggy Thaw

A little rainy, really foggy, damp, cold…..good day to take a walk.

Messing Around with Masking

During a rather slow afternoon I decided that I would create computer desktops of Boomer and Milo. They have kind of a yin and yang vibe going on so I ran with it and the results turned out spectacularly. Minimal but expressive….what’s not to like?

Mexico Continued

Try to imagine sipping a piña colada and eating a delicious gazpacho while listening to the surf breaking on the beach with a warm tropical breeze gently wafting through and you’ll almost have the same experience that we did at our favorite lunch spot. (Las Brisas)

El agua y mi novia…….. Es perfecto.

Eat your heart out Jimmy Buffett

This is the Recepción at the Fairmont Mayakoba. They do a wonderful job of setting beautiful buildings in beautiful places.

Have to end the set with a nice sunset…Have a great day!

Mexico Longpost

For those of you who have stumbled across this blog, my girlfriend and I went to Mexico. These are some of the pictures that came from the aforementioned trip. First off, everyone loves a picture of a sweet bathroom in a sweet resort in a sweet country. I know you love this.

I would have to say that I could get used to the view from the back patio pretty quickly. The lagoon our casita was located on was full of birds, fish and turtles and the like and made for a quite peaceful place to hang out and just watch.

It stormed a bit the first day in Mexico, but we’d just come from a crazy blizzard in Chicago, so 80 degree rain was pretty nice. And on top of that, even the storms are beautiful in Mexico!

The number of pictures taken of flowers is directly proportionate to the number of flowers present. Therefore ya’ll should ready yourselves for some flower pictures.

The pool by the Lagoon was a favorite spot to work on evenly roasting our pale northern skin for obvious reasons.

Another picture of one of the beautiful oases around the resort.

Thatch roof and blue sky go together like……ummm….well at least as well as anything else that goes together well.

I’ll try to sneak this flower in to the lineup…..It was pretty….give me a break.

I suppose with all of the living things in and around the water, one should expect to see an apex predator. Nevertheless, it’s still surprising to actually see them hanging around.
